Pearson, a global learning- solutions company, has appointed Vishaal Gupta as its president- workforce skills division. In the new role, Gupta will spearhead the next phase of Pearson’s enterprise solutions and vocational qualifications business. He will directly report to Omar Abbosh, CEO, Pearson.
Gupta succeeds Mike Howells, the current president-workforce skills division, who will depart from the company this month.
With a rich professional experience of 29 years, Gupta brings a wealth of expertise to the new role. He moves from Accenture, where he was serving as senior managing director and a member of the global leadership council.
Gupta is passionate about generating transformative technology ideas to address the business challenges faced by his clients. With a strong focus on relationships, he adopts a hands-on approach to leadership, leading by example and actively supporting his team.
Prior to this, Gupta’s tenure at Accenture saw him assume various leadership roles. He joined the company in 2015 as its managing director technology sales lead-Europe, Africa, Middle-East and Latin America. Close to two years into the role, he was elevated to global industry technology lead, in the year 2017. In the year 2020, he served the company as its Google Cloud platform sales lead for a year, based out of Europe.
Most recently, he served as the EMEA Market Maker for Strategic deals. Prior to his time at Accenture, Gupta contributed to esteemed technology services organisations such as Tech Mahindra, MindTree and HCL Comnet. Additionally, he co-founded a product startup named Unimobile, which was later acquired by Verisign.
His longest stint was with MindTree, where he dedicated over 11 years of his professional career.
Gupta holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and a degree in Computer Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering. He is actively involved in initiatives aimed at enhancing literacy in schools and communities across India. Gupta is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
