There is placement news that will bring cheer to students who are worried about getting good job offers given the global economic slowdown. Students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur have managed to bag more than 700 job offers, of which 19 are international. That isn’t all. Some of them have been offered over Rs 1 crore CTC or cost to company!
The placement drive saw over 61 companies offering roles in the areas of banking/finance, consulting, software, analytics and core engineering.
Among the big names that made pre-placement offers were Microsoft, Apple, Google, McKinsey, EXL Services, Capital One, Arthur D Little, Da Vinci, DE Shaw, Glean, Graviton, Quantbox, Databricks, Square point and TSM. A good number of these companies have already picked interns from the campus in August.
Interviews are being conducted in hybrid mode along with many firms physically meeting candidates on campus. The Institute successfully reached out to many new companies, which is probably why there has been significant participation and students have not faced any disappointment, despite the slump in the job market.
The ‘Academia Industry Conclave (AIC) 2023’ organised for the first time by the Institute’s Career Development Centre, seems to have managed to achieve its aim of bridging the gap between academia and industry to a great extent.
The placement drive began on 3 December 2023.
In 2020, the first day of the placement drive at IIT Kharagpur, had witnessed final year students receiving more than 130 job offers and 276 pre-placement offers .
