Apple is gearing to increase its workforce strength in India to five lakh over a period of three years or so. It is pertinent to mention here that India is on its way to becoming one of Apple’s biggest markets thanks to its growing middles class with their increasing ability to spend.

The company that manufactures iPhones already has about 1.5 lakh people working for its vendors and suppliers. In fact, the maximum number of these workers are employed by Tata Electronics, which operates two Apple plants.

The company is reportedly working to increase production. Its exports from India have gone up to an overwhelming $12.1 billion in FY 2023-24 from an earlier $6.27 billion in the previous financial year, which is a huge improvement as per reports. This is not really surprising, because now, Apple manufactures around 14 per cent of its iPhones in India. This figure may go up to 25 per cent soon with Apple expanding rapidly in the country.

Recently, Apple was in the news for its initiative to address the residential needs of factory workers. As part of the initiative Apple aims to erect over 78,000 housing units, with Tamil Nadu slated to receive the lion’s share of 58,000 units. The move will be especially beneficial for the women migrant workers, a significant portion of whom belong to the 19-24 age bracket.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is on an expansion spree, planning a 10 per cent workforce increase over the next year, following a similar growth in FY23. L&T’s chief financial officer, R Shankar Raman told Moneycontrol that talent competition will determine the exact headcount, but the targeted range remains around 10 per cent.

This growth aligns with L&T’s focus on West Asia, particularly Saudi Arabia, where it has established fabrication shops and ambitious goals. “We’re keen to involve local talent,” Raman said, highlighting efforts to train Saudi graduate engineers and bolster the regional workforce.

L&T boasts a $16 billion order book in Saudi Arabia, prompting plans to onboard both senior leadership and on-floor talent. While acknowledging short-term supply chain disruptions due to regional tensions, Raman remains optimistic about long-term prospects. “Saudi Arabia’s 2030 vision remains intact,” he emphasised, noting their $16 billion order book will keep L&T busy for the next two and a half years.

This expansionary outlook comes amid strong post-quarter earnings, with L&T poised to exceed both revenue and order inflow targets for the current fiscal year.

Foxconn, the manufacturer of Apple iPhones, is planning to invest an extra $1.67 billion in Karnataka. The approval for this investment came from the Karnataka State High-Level Clearance Committee, chaired by Siddaramaiah, chief minister, Karnataka.

The firm plans to start making iPhones in Karnataka by April 2024, creating approximately 50,000 jobs.
The extra investment aims to establish a manufacturing facility in Devanahalli, where Foxconn has acquired 300 acres of land for this purpose.

In August 2023, Foxconn pledged an initial investment of $600 million in Karnataka for two projects, focusing on manufacturing iPhone casing components and chip-making tools. This marked the beginning of a series of planned investments by the company in the state.

Furthermore, in September 2023, the firm revealed through social- media posts that it was planning to double its current workforce in the country. With an existing 40,000-strong workforce in Tamil Nadu, the company aims to reduce dependence on China.

Over the next year, the firm intends to double its workforce in India and also increase its investments in the country twofold to support its business expansion. In 2022, reports indicated that Foxconn aimed to hire an additional 53,000 workers within two years, aiming for a total team strength of around 70,000 in India.

The firm is making big moves to expand its presence in the country, focusing on hiring and developing its workforce. Since entering the Indian market in 2005, the company has not only increased its revenue but also made substantial investments and grown its workforce.

With an investment of over Rs 200 crore, Mitsubishi Electric India has established a manufacturing plant in the Talegaon area of Pune. This development has brought positive excitement to the local community, including residents in nearby Pimpri-Chinchwad. The company has hired 100 employees, primarily from the local area, and aims to hire an additional 500 employees in the coming years.

The manufacturing plant, situated in Badhalawadi village just a few kilometres from Talegaon, was officially inaugurated on 11 December 2023. Covering a total area of 40,000 square metres, the initial built-up space is 15,400 square metres.

Operations at the plant are scheduled to commence in January 2024. Hisahiro Nishimoto, group vice president, industry and mobility area (IMBA), Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Japan, and Tomohiro Yoshida, director and head of factory automation division, Mitsubishi Electric India, were present at the event.

The Talegaon site will serve as the central hub for factory automation (FA) manufacturing. Presently, it is producing inverters, also known as variable frequency drives (VFDs), used for motor and controller operation. The new plant will focus on manufacturing various industrial automation and control products.

Yoshida mentioned that the new plant allows them to make FA products locally, cutting costs. Local manufacturing reduces expenses such as transportation and import duties, and naturally creates jobs locally.

This shift aims to make FA products more competitively priced. Currently, the plant has 100 employees, mostly from Pune, and plans to increase to 500 over time as more products are being added to the manufacturing range at the Talegaon plant.

The plant is set to expand its capabilities and the Group has already acquired a new iPhone assembly plant. While the new facility will primarily manufacture iPhone parts, there is a likelihood of it producing parts for other brands of high-end phones in the near future.

This expansion confirms Apple’s intentions to focus on making India the hub for manufacturing smartphones.

The Tata Group became the first iPhone manufacturer in India when it acquired Wistron’s iPhone assembly plant in Kolar, Karnataka.

At the time of acquisition, in April this year, Wistron’s Indian facility was manufacturing the iPhone 12 and iPhone 14 using eight production lines. Once Tata acquired the plant, Wistron no longer had a presence in the Indian market as this was their only facility producing Apple products in India.

There were mainly three Taiwanese corporations that assembled Apple products in India, namely Wistron, Pegatron and Foxconn. Wistron departed from India, while Foxconn and Pegatron have expanded th their production lines in the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that Apple posted record revenue in India in the June-September quarter. More than 2.5 million units were shipped out of India. Clearly, Apple has been experiencing significant year-on-year growth in the country.

UST, a global digital transformation solutions firm, is gearing up to hire at least 2,000 people over the next couple of years and take its team strength in Hyderabad up to 4,000. Having begun with a small team of 250 about five years ago, UST has come a long way in Hyderabad. As part of its expansion in India, UST has set up a new office in Hyderabad’s International Tech Park.

The California-based company already has a 20,000-strong India team, which forms the lion’s share of its global workforce of 30,000. Its other development and software-delivery centres in India are located in Chennai, Kochi, Coimbatore, Pune, Bengaluru, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Hosur and Delhi NCR.

The laboratory at the newly-inaugurated innovation hub — UST’s fourth in the country after Kochi, Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram —will see engineers and researchers creating innovative solutions in collaboration with clients, partners and academics.

In addition to engineering and computer information science (CIS), the new facility will serve as a research and development (R&D) centre for artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT) and other emerging technologies. It will also work to develop SAS platform practices.

The company is eager to leverage the rich talent available locally to strengthen its capabilities, and develop the hub into a global capacity centre to fulfil the needs of various sectors, including telecom, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, insurance and pharmaceuticals.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is investing Rs 3,300 crore to set up a new plant in Karnataka by 2026. This would be the company’s third plant in the country and is expected to generate employment for 2,000 people. A formal agreement was signed to this effect by TKM and the Government of Karnataka, reflecting how serious TKM is about contributing towards ‘Make in India’, ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and creating ‘Mass Happiness for All’.

The investments also mark the silver jubilee of TKM’s India operations. The new plant will not only enhance the capacity and give a push to the local manufacturing eco-system, but will also pave the way for new technologies, ensuring ‘mobility for all’. The plant will be established in Bidadi near Bangalore and is expected to open doors to further development, investments and job creation, given the growth in the supplier ecosystem that will no doubt happen. This plant will increase the production by 1,00,000 units per year.

Government of Karnataka released a dedicated EV policy in 2017, which was updated in 2021, and has been responsible for “attracting investments of Rs 25,000 crore, spanning the entire electric vehicle (EV) value chain,”revealed M B Patil, minister for large and medium industries and infrastructure development, Government of Karnataka on the occasion. About two lakh EVs have been registered in the State.

Masahiko Maeda, chief executive officer, Asia Region, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said that the plant “will further elevate TKM’s role in our global vision for a more promising future by creating sustainable mobility solutions that enrich people’s lives worldwide.”

Karnataka will soon finalise a new clean mobility policy, which will position the State as an attractive destination for EV manufacturing, including battery and cell manufacturing, component production, original-equipment manufacturing, charging and testing infrastructure, as well as research and development.

This will further attract investments of Rs 50,000 crore across the entire EV value chain, giving rise to about one lakh new jobs, and “establishing a comprehensive and supportive EV ecosystem in the State,” shared Patil.

Masakazu Yoshimura, MD and CEO, Toyota Kirloskar Motor assured, “We will continue to work together with the government to develop a world-class local ecosystem that promotes the best solutions for India by focusing on improving energy security, promoting economic growth and achieving carbon neutrality.”

The company has been doing its bit for local communities and contributing to ‘Skill India’ through its initiatives of Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) and Toyota Technical Education Program (TTEP) for some time now. In fact, TTTI has trained close to 1,000 students from Karnataka, while 12,000 students have been trained from 63 Institutes across 26 states of India through TTEP.

Gig platform, PickMyWork, has managed to extend its reach to more than 20 states, giving job opportunities to more than eight lakh gig workers. The platform is pursuing a target of 10 lakh by the end of 2023.

About 12 per cent of the platform’s gig workers belong to Maharashtra, while 10 per cent belong to Uttar Pradesh. Karnataka comes in third accounting for eight per cent of the available gig workers, followed by Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Haryana and even Punjab.

Now that services are being offered in seven regional languages, language barriers have been overcome and the platform is now able to cater to diverse clientele.

Founded in 2019 by Kajal Malik and Vidyarthi Badireddy, the Gurugram-based gig platform helps digital firms bag end customers, including shops, for their offerings via a pay-per-task model at minimal customer-acquisition cost or CAC.

The platform has reportedly also managed to retain a whopping 53 per cent of its gig workers in 2023 compared to 2022 when it had retained only about 41 per cent of its gig workers.

The platform has initiated a ticketing system, offering gig workers a means to raise concerns, get them addressed and also give feedback through in-app chat and calls. In order to enhance the user experience of gig workers, the platform also launched a section providing attractive offers, with options to recharge, referral programmes, and even gaming and leagues.

Airbus is on the lookout for software, cryogenics, robotics, cyber security and manufacturing engineers. It is also keen to hire project and programme managers as it gears to expand its UK workforce by at least a thousand. It is inviting talent across a broad range of aerospace-related activities.

A recent Airbus/Oxford Economics survey report reveals that Airbus is already providing a means of livelihood to at least 79,000 people across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. About half of its suppliers come under the category of small and medium enterprises (SME) in the UK. Not surprisingly, Airbus accounts for $875 billion of the UK’s annual gross domestic product and $4.88 billion of the country’s yearly expenditure.

In early September, Airbus had announced its intention to expand its employee base in India by adding 2000 engineers in the coming years. The move is aimed at increasing the total number of employees in India to 5,000. The aerospace company had even signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) in Vadodara. The aim was to establish a specialised engineering programme designed specifically for the aerospace industry. Additionally, the partnership will help cultivate a strong pool of well-trained professionals prepared to meet the growing demands of the thriving aerospace sector.

Foxconn, an Apple supplier, is gearing to double its workforce in India. V Lee, representative of Foxconn in India has announced on social media that it already has a 40,000-strong workforce at its plant in Tamil Nadu, and now intends to depend less on China. In a year’s time, the company aims to double its India workforce and also increase its investment in the country two fold as it works to expand its business here.

In 2022, it was reported that the company hoped to hire 53,000 more workers in two years so that its team strength in the country touched about 70,000.

Last month, that is, August 2023, Foxconn reportedly committed to an investment of about $60 million in Karnataka via two projects focused on manufacturing casing components for iPhones and various tools required for producing chips. This, according to the firm, was just the beginning of many more investments.

In a LinkedIn post through which he wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi a happy birthday, V Lee gratefully acknowledged how Foxconn has managed to grow its business and footprint in India and promised to pump in more finances and create more jobs by Modi’s next birthday.

If things go as planned, the Taiwanese electronics firm should be able to leverage the talent available in the country and invest billions of dollars in the country.

Nextiva, a connected communications firm is looking to expand its 100-strong India team by another 100. The Arizona-based firm had acquired Simplify360 and entered the Indian market.

It is now in the process of expanding its market outside of the US, which involves integrating Simplify360’s product into its own portfolio and tapping the rich talent available in India. Simplify360 already served about 150 customers in India at the time of being acquired by Nextiva.

The voice-over-internet-protocol company has made a name in the connected communications space, powering billions of conversations annually, across its cloud business phone networks, text and team messaging, video meetings, and so on.

The company aims to offer a holistic solution that will bring together conversations in a single platform so what insights can be derived from data to provide better customer experiences.

It is looking to expand in earnest outside the US, and India is definitely one of its favourite locations that promises fast growth.

In December last year, Nextiva had laid off its head – partner development along with 14 per cent of its workforce, unable to handle the challenging economic situation.

In 2021, the value of Nextiva stood at $2.7 billion after its funding round. Globally, it enjoys about five per cent market share in the cloud communication and cloud conversation space. Its customer base is at least one lakh strong, including small and medium-sized businesses.

Tomas Gorny is the co-founder and CEO of Nextiva.

Avaada Group, a renewable energy company with a 700-strong workforce, is all set to add about 3,000 more members to it team. The expansion will happen over a period of two years as it focuses on enhancing its activities in the solar module-manufacturing space as well as in the area of green hydrogen operations. With the government having announced schemes worth over Rs 17,000 crore to support electrolyser manufacturing and green hydrogen production, Avaada’s hiring plans are rightly timed.

Recently, Avaada managed to obtain a funding of about $1.3 billion. The firm, which has an energy capacity of 4GW, is in the process of constructing operational renewable energy capacity of 3 GW. This capacity will be scaled up to at least 30 GW in the next seven years.

The company is working towards establishing a million tonne per annum green hydrogen facility as part of its green hydrogen, green ammonia and green methanol projects. This is a step in the right direction, given the fact that India’s renewable energy sector is growing and evolving rapidly with the government having set a target of 500 GW installed renewable capacity in seven years, along with a target of net-zero emissions by 2070.

Avaada hopes to be known as ‘sand-to-molecule’ company, and is working on establishing a 3 GW solar module manufacturing unit. It is also working towards increasing its cell-to-module capacity to 5 GW in two years’ time.

Vineet Mittal is the chairman and founder of Avaada Group.

Over 2,000 employees of Adobe will now enjoy a new state-of-the-art office in Bengaluru, which is focussed on enhancing the employee experience of the company’s workforce.

Having been in India for well over two decades now, India is the software company’s largest base outside of the US, with more than 7,800 employees across five campuses. It is the centre of Adobe’s business development and software innovation.

The new sustainable office is part of Adobe’s expansion plans and is designed with the aim of maximising employee experience and in line with the company’s hybrid model of work.

Each floor of the new tower will facilitate employee collaboration, connectivity and creativity. The building is, therefore, thoughtfully designed with co-working spaces for collaboration alongside the most modern workstations, quiet ‘focus rooms’, bright meeting rooms and so on.

Clearly, the company is all geared up to attract the best of talent. The new tower is another stepping stone to making India its biggest hub, by increasing capacity.

The Indian teams are engaged in digital learning and print business, contributing to product development across document cloud, increasing the reach of experience cloud solutions and enhancing the creative apps with AI- enabled tools.

T-Systems India is all set to expand its presence in the country. After Pune and Bengaluru, it has opened a new delivery centre in Nagpur, in partnership with Tech Mahindra. The Centre, located in the Mihan SEZ Zone, will be equipped with a gym, cafeteria and recreation centre among other facilities to keep employees engaged.

The strategic collaboration with Tech Mahindra is aimed at fast-tracking its ramp-up in India, which will witness the hiring of over 6,000 people in the next two years. The Company is primarily looking for talent with digital and cloud skills capable of managing the cloud and digital capabilities of its global customers.

This new Centre will deliver intelligent digital solutions and efficient cloud services to the global clients of T-Systems International, the European IT services provider.

The Centre will house a dedicated team to deliver cutting-edge technology solutions in digital and cloud. It is hoped that the Company’s access to the market, talent from tier II cities and competitive pricing will help build up the flexible capacity for T-Systems International’s delivery needs.

Adel Al-Saleh, CEO of T-Systems International is confident that this “expansion into Nagpur will benefit T-Systems’ strategy to scale in India to support our growth plans”. He believes that this tie-up will help achieve the Company’s “target of being the leader in our select markets by building an integrated portfolio of scalable Digital & Cloud services.”

Anant Padmanabhan, MD, T-Systems ICT India, reiterated how “after having successfully ramped up in Pune and Bengaluru, we wanted to tap into talent in other locations to further scale our operations, and chose Nagpur as our next location to expand, in partnership with Tech Mahindra”.

CP Gurnani, MD & CEO, Tech Mahindra, admitted, “Ease of Doing Business (EODB), availability of manpower, and access to infrastructure have accelerated Nagpur’s potential to become the next digital hub for cutting-edge innovation”. He also pointed out that “this will further help generate employment for local talent and provide them with opportunities to learn and grow with a global team.”

With around 28,000 employees worldwide, T-Systems generates annual revenues of about 4 billion euros.

The Company will hire IT talent locally in Brazil, for the development and delivery of tech solutions and services in the areas of cloud, engineering and digital.

The tech centre and the hiring of local talent is part of the tech firm’s attempt to scale up operations so as to be able to better serve its rapidly expanding customer base across industries, both local and global.

By delivering the best tech solutions to help clients locally and globally, HCLTech aims to be the most sought after digital partner for customers in Brazil.

The Company presently has over 2,11,000 employees globally, working from about 52 countries.

In Brazil itself it has about 1,100 employees in Sao Paulo, where it established its first office about 13 years ago.

Anil Ganjoo is the chief growth officer, Americas and executive sponsor, Brazil, HCLTech.

Last month, the Indian tech multinational was in the news for laying off over 300 employees as part of its budget-cutting exercise. No official or public announcement had been made about these layoffs, but Money Control reported that employees working on Microsoft projects in India, Philippines and Guatemala had been impacted the most.

The laid off staff were involved in projects that monitored, curated and edited content for Microsoft’s news platform, MSN, from India, Europe, the US as well as other parts of the world.

The global customer service software and services company is gearing to hire 9,000 people for voice and chat processes to be able to serve its international clients. It will also tap into talent available in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities of India, offering them the option to work from anywhere.

Maharashtra will soon get 207 new branches of HDFC Bank along with 80 smart banking lobbies. The Bank, which is headquartered in Maharashtra, intends to hire more than 3,000 people this fiscal as it works to expand its network in the State.

About 90 of the new branches will be in metro and urban areas, and the rest will cater to the rural and semi-urban areas of the State.

Presently, HDFC’s network of 709 branches and about 3,200 ATMs has reached all the districts and the over 280 talukas of Maharashtra. About 1,375 business correspondents and 15,116 business facilitators are part of the network.

Last month, the Bank made headlines when it opened its all-women branch in Kozhikode, in the northern region of Kerala. About 21.7 per cent of the Bank’s total workforce comprises women right now. The Bank is now working towards improving the figure to 25 per cent in the next three years. The Kozhikode branch is another step towards fulfilling this target and also upholding the Bank’s commitment to diversity.

As part of its expansion plan, Wipro is set to enhance its team in Norway, which is emerging as one of the most successful regions for the tech major.

Currently, Wipro employs about 85 pople in the region and is now planning to take this number to 350 in the coming years.

Local talent accounts for about 95 per cent of the workforce in Norway presently. In the coming years, Wipro plans to further improve this figure and provide major jobs to local talent in the region.

As per the hiring plans, the Company is looking to hire in areas and roles such as IT consulting, engineering and industry domain.

“To help our clients realise their transformation goals, we will be looking to hire for a range of roles, all in the local market,” said Vinay Firake, senior vice president & managing director, Nordics, Wipro.

Maintaining diversity in the workforce is yet another area of focus for the Company. Therefore, the new hiring will be done keeping in mind the need to have a diverse set of talent in the Company and build a culture which make employees realise their full potential.

“Our employees are the drivers for growth, and their happiness is key for our success. As our society gets increasingly diverse, we also need to make sure that our workforce represents this diversity,” said Firake.

To support this, Wipro has decided to maintain a hybrid work culture and employees are welcome to work from office full time, if they so wish.

Firake also shared that Wipro is “upgrading and doubling our office space in Oslo this year”.

There has been a surge in the number of companies demanding digital transformation in the region, making Norway a strategic market unit for Wipro in Europe.

Axis My India, a consumer data intelligence company, has announced a digital hiring campaign called ‘Mission India’ wherein it plans to hire 5000 young Indians at various locations across the country. In this hiring spree, the Company is looking for talent in the areas of technology, analytics, research, marketing and operations.

Talking to HRKatha, Pradeep Gupta, chairman & MD, Axis My India, shares that the Company has a large field force, which carries out a lot of research and data- collection activity. This hiring campaign will majorly focus on adding a large number of young Indians to this field force.

As part of the ‘Mission India’ campaign, the Company has released a video which is more than just a job posting. It is a video ad through which the Company has tried to communicate with prospective candidates using a story telling approach. The video ad shows a highly patriotic youngster who can easily land a job with a bank but opts to sacrifice that opportunity to serve a larger purpose at Axis My India instead.

In an earlier interaction with HRKatha, Gupta described the culture of Axis My India being quite military like, with discipline and focus on objectives at work being the key requirements to make the cut for a job, especially as part of the field force. This has been clearly depicted in the ad, where the protagonist prepares for his job like a soldier.

“When we look to hire people for field work, discipline and focus on work are the two key attributes we look for in a person,” shares Gupta. By discipline, Gupta means that the person should have good habits, such as being punctual, sleeping and waking up on time and being focused while on duty.

Stressing on the ‘focus’ bit, Gupta explains that use of mobile phones at work is rather distracting. That is precisely why “we do not allow employees to keep cell phones on their desks. Their cell phones are kept in a separate room,” shares Gupta.

“While it is possible to train people to build the skills required to carry out the role, good habits and attitude cannot be taught”

Pradeep Gupta, chairman & MD, Axis My India

As part of the assessment for a place in the field force, candidates are required to fill a questionnaire, wherein they are asked about their sleeping habits and also about some of the biggest challenges they have faced in their life.

Gupta observes that people who come from humble backgrounds are more suitable for field work at Axis My India. This is because they can easily connect with people in the rural areas and relate to their problems. Also, youngsters between the ages of 18 and 30 years are more suitable for field work as it involves a lot of physical work.

While hiring for the field force at Axis My India, more emphasis is given to the soft skills the candidates possess and their habits. Regular smokers or alcoholics are not a great fit for this role, points out Gupta. “While it is possible to train people to build the skills required to carry out the role, good habits and attitude cannot be taught,” reasons Gupta.

Axis My India is also looking for talent for technology and analytics roles where the priority is on core skills, but discipline and focus are expected from the individual.

According to Gupta, the ad will help the organisation attract the right set of people because it depicts the true ethos of Axis My India. The ad clearly conveys that those who are willing to sacrifice their time spent on social-media platforms and are also ready to work on certain weekends are the ideal candidates for the Company.

Amidst the rising demand for tech talent, Axis My India is also looking to attract and retain some quality tech talent.

Gupta further mentions that the Company wishes to hire people such as Pradeep Mehra, whose candidly shot video recently went viral on social media. The video shot by film maker Vinod Kapri, shows a young Mehra running a 10 KM stretch back to his home from a fast food outlet, where he works late hours, just because he aspires to join the army.

iXceed Solutions, the talent and workforce solutions company that provides services in Europe and India, has been revamping its organisational structure and focussing on adapting the latest technology, to stay ahead of competition.

Embracing an innovative approach, it is helping businesses “sail through these tough times”. According to Yogita Tulsiani, director and founder, iXceed Solutions, “from maintaining organisational culture, acquiring and retaining talent, engaging a remote workforce to market acquisition and expansion” the Company has been “constantly working on solving the pain points of HR professionals today.”

The pandemic presented HR with challenges in the form of trust-building for employees amidst the remote working scenario.

iXceed Solutions leverage tools and strategies that create valuable relationships with talent. To help businesses keep their employees engaged and satisfied, the Company is re-emphasising adopting innovative ways that result in employee commitment, not through high-salaries, appraisals, or appreciations. Inducing the work methods that share a sense of ownership with employees and nurture emotional connect, iXceed results in employee commitment for sustained businesses in global markets.

Currently on an expansion spree, iXceed is building a framework that creates valuable relationships for businesses and people by providing efficient talent solutions. It has introduced new lines of business around the adoption of digital solutions and is also leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to create sustainable businesses and connect talent with global opportunities.

With constantly evolving ways of working, business organisations are accelerating transformation through new-age technology. The adoption of technology has mitigated risks associated with talent management in the remote-work culture. Moreover, businesses globally are investing heavily in adopting technology tools that help talent managers to rethink and realign employee activities at work.

By automating and tracking relevant data, iXceed Solutions tries to help businesses expand and sustain in international markets, creating growth and encouraging a learning culture for employees.

iXceed wants to be the partner of choice when it comes to international expansion for Indian high- growth firms. To expand its client portfolio, the Company is exploring competitive global markets to cater to diverse domains – medical (hospitals and medical institutes), as well as banking & financial services.
T
he Company touched a revenue of $10 million in the last FY and aims to expand its footprints in the American and Asia Pacific markets in 2021.

Tech giant, Microsoft, has announced its expansion plans for the coming year. It aims to invest $75 million on building a new office at Atlanta, Georgia, which will reportedly create 1,500 new jobs in the artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud spaces.

“We are excited that a global leader, like Microsoft Corp. is expanding its investment in Georgia with tech jobs that will be truly beneficial to the company and our state,” said Governor Brian P. Kemp.

Midtown Atlanta has gained immense popularity, and therefore, it has now become a top innovation district and a hub for tech companies.

The expansions will be in the midtown area in a 523,000 sq. ft facility in the popular Atlantic Station district. The new office will also have a retail space, which is scheduled to open in the summer of 2021.

The newly-built enterprise will reportedly be a client-facing workplace, focussing upon AI and cloud services, including retail space for engaging directly with customers.

In the words of Terrell Cox, general manager, Microsoft,  “Atlanta has a rich culture and history of innovation, making it a unique place for tech growth. We are excited to expand our presence and further engage with the community and surrounding region, contributing positively to technical opportunity, digital fluency, and economic development.”

Currently, the Satya Nadella-run enterprise is operating a cloud computing engineering centre in the Coda Building at Technology Square, maintaining offices in Alpharetta and Buckhead in the state.

Capgemini is gearing up to expand its already over one-lakh strong India workforce by hiring 30,000 more people this year. The French multinational technology company, which also provides professional and outsourcing services, will be hiring freshers as well as experienced people.

More than half of the Company’s global employee base is in India, which proves how significant a role its India workforce plays in its global business.

Taking advantage of the learning ability of the youngsters in its workforce, who are keen to acquire new skills and grow, the Company is concentrating on reskilling its employees to make them future ready. A significant 65 per cent of its India workforce comprises those under the age of 30. Capgemini is also offering special programmes for the mid-level managers who possess 10 to 15 years of experience and are keen to upskill and move on to project management and architectural roles.

In preparation for the expansion, the Company has created space at its centres over the last two years. Its largest development centre is at Airoli, near Mumbai.

Unlike other similar companies, Capgemini does not believe in investing in research and development or creating new products or putting money into startups. Instead, it prefers to focus on customer-specific improvements and collaborating with startups on important technologies.

The Company has not undergone any restructuring nor has there been any involuntary attrition except for the usual exits owing to non-performance.

Microsoft will soon be unveiling its third research and development (R&D) centre in India, at Noida. The Centre will create thousands of job opportunities for the engineering talent in the country, who will be able to do a lot of meaningful work and help create innovative solutions that will have significant impact on the world.

This India Development Centre (IDC) will be similar to the ones in Bangalore and Hyderabad, and is expected to expand as much. It will see the Company’s engineering teams from across groups — such as artificial intelligence (AI) and research, cloud and enterprise, and experience and devices — working together.

According to Rajiv Kumar, managing director, Microsoft India Research & Development Centre, this new centre will take the IDC closer to its goal of becoming “a world class development centre and also a source of innovation for the next billion users.”

At the IDC-NCR, Microsoft will also introduce Mixer — its live-streaming gaming platform team— to India so that it becomes the first centre outside Redmond, US, to host the team.

Microsoft’s first IDC in India was set up in Hyderabad, way back in 1998. It is one of its largest R&D centres outside the Redmond headquarters.

Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft is expected to visit the country very soon. He will reportedly be addressing clients, young achievers, students, developers and entrepreneurs.
