On 31 January 2024, ‘Women in the Workforce for Viksit Bharat’ will be hosted by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Labour and Employment at Bharat Mandapam, is a convention centre in New Delhi.
The Ministry believes that this is a step towards encouraging fairness between men and women at work and wants more women to join the workforce.
The meeting will be led by Smriti Zubin Irani, union minister for women and child development, minority affairs, along with Bhupender Yadav, union minister for labour and employment, environment. Munjpara Mahendrabhai, minister of state in the ministry of women and child development, and Rameswar Teli, minister of state in the ministry of labour and employment, will also be present.
The Indian government is actively working to promote women’s workforce participation through education and skill- development initiatives.
This event is focused on expanding quality childcare through Anganwadi cum Crèches (AWCCs) under Mission Shakti. These places provide top-notch care for children, covering nutrition, health, growth monitoring and education.
The Ministry has set national minimum standards and protocols for crèches to guide various organisations in ensuring the best care and support for the children of their staff.
While the ‘Standards and Protocol’ will make sure that care jobs are organised and set up in a consistent way,
This is a big step towards the idea of “women-led-development.” By giving extra support to the care sector, the plan is also reinforcing the goal of making India a nation where people are self-reliant and empowered.
