I travel, explore new places and experience the local culture. I absolutely love to taste the local cuisine and appreciate the heritage — art, architecture, history and culture — of the places I visit.

MORNING ROUTINE

I start my day with an early morning walk/workout. Getting ready for office takes time as I like to be well dressed and coordinated, which means ensuring that the entire outfit and footwear match. If it’s a Mon, Tue, Thu or Sat I do try and visit the temple. It’s a long drive to work so I use this time to read the newspaper, listen to music, chat with friends and speak to colleagues to get updates on what’s happening at work. Of course, my quota of video calls is a must, both while travelling to and back from work.

IDEAL WEEKENDS

Weekends find me riding a rickshaw to the seaside, where I walk by the seashore, experiencing the calmness of the sea and the waves. It is fun to watch the hustle and bustle of young adults playing, and pet owners pampering their dogs as they play catch with them. After the walk, I go and buy fresh flowers, usually oriental liliums, for myself. This is followed by breakfast at Candies or Bagel Station. Once I come back, I pamper myself with a nice relaxing spa.

LAST FUN HOLIDAY

My last fun holiday was San Francisco, where I visited Napa Valley, Yosemite National Park, Muir Woods and Monterey. I enjoyed the local food, including crab cakes and ice creams. A great way of getting the true Frisco feel was the one-day Big Bus Tour experiencing the zig zag roads and the hippie culture.

FAVOURITE PASTIME

Catching up with friends over a good meal or coffee and watching plays at the theatre are the primary distractions. Netflix and Amazon Prime give me the relaxation I need. When completely ‘vela’, I watch reels on Instagram and compare notes with my closest friend.

GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY

I coach and mentor several young professionals to help them achieve their aspirations and goals. I have sponsored the education of many young girls. I also teach orphaned children and organise health camps for the aged.

PASSION BEYOND WORK

I am passionate about ‘networking’ and do so as much as possible.

I network with people from various fields and not only HR. This gives me a chance to learn more about people and their life learnings. I also get together with friends, from the HR world, as well as from school and college, and learn from them. I believe in staying in touch with some old favourite teachers and bosses, and seek their mentoring and blessings from time to time.

I’m also passionate about acting. I did a lot of mono acts, drama, recitation and elocution during my student days. Unfortunately, I couldn’t pursue acting much after the start of my career. Being keen to learn acting more professionally, I’m currently doing a course in acting and also plan to join a theatre coaching programme.

MORNING ROUTINE

I start my day with a glass of warm water. This is followed by a morning walk for 45 minutes to an hour.

Post that, I have my favourite beverage, tea with family, chit chatting, browsing through news and events, LinkedIn and so on. Also, I enjoy some time petting and cuddling with Tyche, our loved pet Labrador.

On a working day I generally leave for office around 8:45 am.

IDEAL WEEKENDS

An ideal weekend should be as relaxing as possible. My time is spent with family, shopping, watching movies, eating out and on a video call with parents. Keeping an eye on self-development, I try to learn something new every weekend by reading or browsing or indulging in some impactful conversations with someone.

FAVOURITE PASSTIME

I enjoy watching movies and try to watch popular movies/web series recommended by friends. I also network a lot.

LAST FUN HOLIDAY

A two-day get together with my school classmates at a resort a couple of months ago was a fun holiday. We had an awesome time reminiscing good old days.

GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY

I would prefer not to divulge details since it’s about engaging with society and the joy of giving. However we try and do whatever possible for old-age people and children on certain occasions.

I mentor young professionals, which to me is a way of giving back to the profession. In the process, I also benefit from some reverse mentoring as well.

PASSION BEYOND WORK

I belong to a family that was uprooted during the Kashmir exodus, which happened in the 1990s, when I was 14 years old. I like writing about the hardships that I and others faced during that time. I share my stories about those struggles— from the point of view of how people’s behaviour and minds were affected as they navigated this crisis— on social media. This is something very close to my heart.

My usual mornings start with a cup of tea. That is also when I like to maintain a diary putting down all the tasks that I have to do that day to keep myself organised. If I do not do this, my day always remains unorganised.

IDEAL WEEKENDS

On weekends, I generally go out on a long drive — an unplanned trip. I visit small towns near Pune and stop by tea shops where I can interact with other people and get to know them. I also like to help underprivileged students, mentor them and help them build a career.

LAST FUN HOLIDAY

My last holiday was a two-week trip to Sri Lanka in the year 2019, just before the pandemic. Along with my family, we also had my former colleague’s family with us. We visited the capital and south Sri Lanka, which has some beautiful beaches.

GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY

With Amdocs, during a mentor development activity, I was a mentor and we had collaborated with an NGO. It all started from there, when I met some underprivileged girls and gave them career guidance. I developed a connection with them and since then, I and some of my colleagues from Amdocs have stayed in touch. We mentor such underprivileged children so that they can also achieve something in life. Whenever possible, either on weekends or weekdays, I block some time to talk to such children and conduct small mentoring sessions for them at my place. Apart from this, I keep a personal fund aside to help those in need. For instance, if my domestic helps need money for education, I use this fund to support them.

FAVOURITE PASSTIME

Generally, on weekends I like to cook for my family. It is something I love doing to pass my time. Also, meditating for a few hours is part of my daily routine.
